As the oldest sibling of four, my service to others started at a very young age. I’ve always found great joy and satisfaction from caring for my three younger brothers. Happy to help however I was able, I took great pride in my ability to cook family meals and care for my brothers in whatever way was needed.
As I neared college, it was obvious to me that I wanted to continue to provide care for others. I found a program at the University of Oregon that aligned with my core values. During my time in college, I worked as a Resident Assistant, helping new students acclimate to life away from home. I also spent time interning at a local child abuse assessment center.
I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Human Services in 2015.
After graduating, I transitioned to a treatment counselor role at a sub-acute youth residential treatment center, then spent time in infant and toddler care. I ended up working as a Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional, until I left the workforce to stay at home with my newborn daughter at the end 2019.
After going through birth, labor, and experiencing my postpartum period during the start of the pandemic, I was left feeling lonely and lacking the support system I thought would be there.
I believe that no one should go through their birth or postpartum period in isolation. We aren’t meant to do things alone, and I felt a need to figure out how I could support others in this way. And here we are!
I created 11th House Doula Services from this gap in care.
I love doula work. It’s what I was meant to do all along. I feel so appreciative of my clients who allow me into such an intimate and delicate place in their lives.
I love caring for humans, working with families in a personal way, and seeing the sigh of relief from folks when I walk in the door. The baby snuggles are a welcome bonus!
I get so much joy from helping and caring for others in practical, tangible ways. From cooking and washing bottles to sleep relief and hands-on lessons for parents – I’m here to make your birth and postpartum experience as easeful as possible.
